This version has a few interesting updates, mine note type support in the dance mode, keyboard mode now has an option to pick an instrument mode,
this version also adds better support for pro guitars that are running through the madcatz adaptor, and a fix for part detection that was causing a
couple of issues in the last version.
The full version now includes a second song as well
The last version added the ground work for the dance mode, and over time we plan to flesh it out a little,
we have just added support for the mine note type that is unique to this mode.
New version adds a couple of cool features, update checking, if your online the game will check if there are
any updates out when launched, and this is the first released version with a functional basic dance mode option.
We are also going to be including some songs with the game in future, songs by Brad Sucks,
check the link out to hear more of his songs.
For this release we included one incomplete song as a sampler mainly for reference so people can see the dance mode as there are no charts for this
mode at this time.
One of the changes in v0.78 caused a few issues with HOPO notes, this version should fix that, along with an
issue that would make HOPO miss when hitting the note before it late so a fairly important update for guitar players.
There were a few extra things we wanted to get into the next release but as there were a few important bug fixes we
didn't want to wait any longer before getting this one out, this should deal with the crash issues on launch on
hardware that can't handle video backgrounds, also adds a server browser to the online mode and fixes an issue
that could cause you to miss the first note of a song.
Phase Shift - Looking for song charters [20th March 2011]
We are looking to get some songs bundled into Phase Shift, we now have a few songs we can use and are looking for people to help with the charting of these songs,
if you have experience with charting and are interested in helping the project check out the forum thread for this topic.
Phase Shift - Dance mode experimenting [19th March 2011]
There was some recent talk about integration of a dance style mode and gameplay wise it is very similar to the new key mode we
added in the last version, so we thought we might as well give it a go. It is quite experimental at the moment as it isn't clear how
this will actually be playable with existing songs.
While we could just look to support the stepmania format, these songs would not sync up with the standard songs so it would be limited to playing
one game type or the other and that seems to defeat the point of an integrated game, so idealy we would want to add a dance part to the current
midi standard and allow all modes to function together and synced to the same audio.
Main new feature, added basic (5 Lane) keys Support, along with a bunch of random bug fixes. Also to help compatibility video backgrounds are disabled
by default, should avoid crashes on systems that can't handle them.
This version fixes a couple more random crash bugs, and improves on the calibration options, there is now a basic calibration mode to make things easier.
This release also adds support for the 22 fret guitars.
This version is a bit of an experimental update, a potential fix for people with audio stuttering issues, will need feedback on this.
It also fixes an issue that causes some songs to give crazy results on the score screen after playing a song.
Random song turned out to be broken in the last version, and we discovered a couple of rendering issues that have been fixed, recommended update if you plan to use
the new light note pack.
Grab from the download page
Phase Shift - Light Note Pack [21st February 2011]
These are some alternative notes i've put together for people who want to try something a little different, while making these notes we discovered a couple of issues with the game when using these so
make sure you grab v0.75g when its out if you want to make use of these without problems.
Link is on the main downloads page.
Phase Shift - v0.75f Fix Update 5 [18th February 2011]
Seemed like there was a mistake in v0.75e that caused slider notes to show up incorrectly, this should fix that issue.
Phase Shift - v0.75e Fix Update 4 [17th February 2011]
Version v0.75 seems to be shaping up quite nicely now, most reported issues have been dealt with, this
release sorts out some odd ends, a score related bug, video backgrounds when using playlists, added a lefty option
for drums and a few other fixes.
Phase Shift - v0.75d Fix Update 3 [14th February 2011]
More fixes, this should sort the sticky menu navigation bug and
fix an issue with drum navigation, and a couple of other smaller fixes.
Phase Shift - v0.75c Fix Update 2 [14th February 2011]
Couple more controller issues dealt with such as legacy guitars not being able to strum in game, grab from the
download page.
Phase Shift - v0.75b Fix Update [13th February 2011]
This fixes a couple off the issues found in v0.75, there are still a couple more to deal with such as menu
navigation getting stuck, this is still being looked into, this updated exe fixes the following issues.
Allowed Disco Flip Expert Plus to Use Expert Events
Fixed Random Song Playlist Crash
Fixed Issue with Scores not updating without a Directory Change
Fixed Signal Decoding For Ion Drum Rocker and RB3 Madcatz Pro Drums
The new version is now out, this is also the 1 year anniversary release, lots of changes and fixes, to many to list here but the major highlights being the
new real game modes, playlist support, custom themes for the menus, animated tail effects, song section detection, and
lots more, check the update page for a more complete list.
Any issues please report on the forums, and enjoy.
Phase Shift - Next Version Soon [6th February 2011]
Going by current rate of progress we are expecting to have a new version ready for next weekend,
most of the work now is just cleaning up lose ends and trying to make sure there are no new issues
that have snuck in with all the recent changes that have been made.
Just a bit of a progress update as things are still heading forward for the next release, the menus are
slowly taking shape, still have a bit more to do in this area. The game now has an extra audio menu
where volume levels can be adjusted for most of the sounds in the game.
There is a new option that is great for theme making, a refresh button to show theme changes instantly
without needing to reload the game, just edit the value in the text file, hit refresh
and instant feedback, saves a lot of time.
Additional to this work has started on playlist support so it will be possible to queue up songs in the
songlist instead of just playing each song one at a time.
Making progress getting the menus remade in the new format, I have recorded a video showing some of the
latest updates featuring me struggling to play pro guitar.
Must give a shout out to sealhunter from the forums for his generous donation, this is the only reason I was able to
afford the new controller and it has greatly helped with the testing of this new mode.
Phase Shift - New Theme System [10th January 2011]
The next release along with the new gameplay modes will introduce a new theme system, this will
allow menus to constructed through a html like system, images to be positioned, scaled and rotated,
and visual effects can be applied, for example a menu item when selected could be scaled, faded, or
colour adjusted.
The new system also allows for video backgrounds in the menus and image based fonts, so custom fonts
can be styled rather than just plain letters, this may also open up better support for language
translations at some point down the line.
Been a while since the last update, but lots of things have been going on in the background as the next version will be
a big update for the new real music modes. Something we wanted to get working along side these new modes was a functional
practice system as real guitar is generally to hard to play full speed while your learning.
So we have a basic mode in place now to allow for completely dynamic speed adjustment on the fly to play the song at any
speed you need, but we also thought it would be fun to allow speed adjustments beyond 100%.
Preview video of our new drum mode, 7 lane full range mode to take advantage of more complete drum kits and suitable controllers.
New host - 13th October 2010
Our old web host was going under in a couple of weeks so needed to find a new host, this is the first update on the new host and
looks like everything transfered smoothly, if you spot any broken links or issues leave us a note on the forum about it.
PS Low Detail Notes - 7th October 2010
Low detail notes have now been added as an optional download on the main download page, these are for people who want to try and get
a bit more performance out of the game.
Phase Shift v0.70b Released - 3rd October 2010
Bug fix release, this may fix video background support for some people.
Phase Shift v0.71 Released - 6th October 2010
Bug fixed in v0.70 that stopped some machines launching the game even after updating dx and vs files. This version
also adds support for expert+ drum difficulty along with a few other tweaks.
Phase Shift v0.70b Released - 3rd October 2010
Bug fix release, this may fix video background support for some people.
Phase Shift v0.70 Released - 2nd October 2010
NOTE - This version requires updated DX and VS Runtimes to be installed, otherwise you will get missing file errors when trying to run, both of these are
linked in the download page.
The core engine has had a number of changes in this version so it will require some testing, there may be a few new issues that show up still to be worked out. You may
also find the calibration value you usually use may be different now.
This version brings experimental video background support, at the moment it probably will not work for all hardware so we need feedback on this feature, if it
fails it should revert to 2d image mode. If it fails let us know on the forum what your hardware setup is.
Status Update - 30th September 2010
Gearing up for the next release, few things on the way such as video background support and realtime graphics options, can switch resolutions and fullscreen / windowed without requiring a restart.
The game is still going to be based on the original redistributables due to glitches in 2010 so the vc++ 2010 files aren't required.
On a side note, seems like our web host is going under so we currently need to find a new place for the site, might be a bit of down time while working things out but the forum should stay online
as its hosted off site.
Status Update - 5th September 2010
Just to give a bit of advanced notice, future versions of Phase Shift will require the 2010 VC++ redistributables to work, older
versions used 2008, so if you don't have it already and want to get updated ahead of time grab the VC++ 2010 Redist installer. (edit - not required for now)
Status Update - 21st August 2010
If you haven't been keeping up with the community side of things you may be unaware phase shift is on a bit of a break
due to dave having a baby and apparently being a dad eats up your time.
As the next feature update may be a while I will set aside a bit of time to update
the stage background, tweak some more bits and pieces to get some of the rougher edges worked out.
For general reference of how the project will be developing over time I have taken some time to organise the
forum with 2 fairly important threads, a feature list and a bug list, these will act as a guide for what things need to be
done and what sort of priority these tasks will have.
And finally, have to mention v0.68b has been the fasted downloaded version of the game, about 3x more than previous versions, so nice
to see the word is getting out and more people are checking it out so thanks to people who have been spreading the word.
Phase Shift v0.68b Released - 15th August 2010
Small fix that stops the average delay option screwing up when you adjust your calibration values from the
in game pause menu.
Because this is only a small fix I will include an exe only option for people who already grabbed 0.68.
Phase Shift v0.68 Released - 14th August 2010
This version includes the new adjustable camera options, along with a few tweaks to the options menus,
this release also includes an experimental calibration helper called show average delay, when this is enabled
it tries to estimate what calibration value you should be using based on your accuracy while playing.
Phase Shift Adjustable Cameras - 9th August 2010
Currently working on getting multiple camera views into the game, this is linked with your profile so every player can have their own
view if they want, it may look a little odd if you do that but its pretty cool.
Phase Shift v0.67 Released - 8th August 2010
This release adds achievements to the game, this should be considered an experiemental feature at the moment and needs a bit
of testing.
This release also adds bot support, again another fairly experimental feature so will likely get a few updates over time.
Phase Shift Practice Mode - 27th December 2010
Been a while since the last update, but lots of things have been going on in the background as the next version will be

Phase Shift Achievements - 7th August 2010
Achievements is something that has been on the games todo list for a while and now seems like a good time to start working on it.
Phase Shift Dark Theme - 5th August 2010
Messing around with a random alternative graphics, thought I may as well upload it as a theme for people who want something
a little less colourfull, effects the abstract background but not the 3d stage.
Second bugfix release, cleans up the lobby a bit more, and fixes a fairly big issue that would have stopped
most machines being able to host their own servers so if anyone was confused why it wasn't working, they
may have better luck now.
Phase Shift v0.65 Released - 2nd August 2010
Mostly a bug fix release, smooths out a few of the main issues found in v0.64 such as missing text on the songlist and
controls locking up when starting online games when people were not ready.
The lobby has been updated with a couple of extra features to make things a bit easier. As always see the updates page for
full changelist.
Phase Shift v0.64 Released - 1st August 2010
Yes this is the big one, what everyone wanted, finally the pigs have been updated,
Along with a couple of other bits and bobs like netplay, grab from the downloads page.
Phase Shift Multiplayer Preview - 1st August 2010
We are currently trying to get the final issues resolved for the next Phase Shift update, I record one of the test games where we were
doing 4 player online testing for the first time, had a couple of random hickups but overall the results were good.
Phase Shift v0.63 Released - 18th July 2010
Quite a few fixes in this release, main new feature is a song rating system allowing
you to keep track of the songs you like / dislike.
Phase Shift v0.62 Released - 12th July 2010
Wanted to get this update out fairly quick to remove some of the hassle of the profile selection by adding an
option to assign a default first player profile, so in single player sessions you don't have to worry about
constantly picking your profile every time.
Phase Shift v0.61 Released - 12th July 2010
This version hits a big milestone for us, finally have functional score saving, this is something we've been aiming towards for
a while but we needed to get a lot of other things sorted like profiles so everything would work the way we wanted.
This version also comes in with a new profile menu so you can pick your player from the main menu so the correct scores can
be shown in the songlist.
Phase Shift v0.60c Released - 6th July 2010
Second bug fix release, fixes an issue with custom neck textures crashing the game.
Phase Shift v0.60b Released - 5th July 2010
Bug fix release, v0.60 had a couple of issues that needed dealing with, this version also includes some details
for keyboard users to make it easier to rebind the keys, check the included readme for details.
Phase Shift v0.60 Released - 4th July 2010
This release was supposed to just be for getting player profiles working but we ended up getting a
reasonable amount of extra things in as well like a no fail mode, a reworked keyboard system to make
it a little more flexible, multiple neck graphic support, also included a keyboard graphic to show
the default layout.
One of the nice changes with the profile system is the option to specify your prefured default settings
for instrument selection and difficulty, so if you always like to play guitar on hard when you go to play
with your profile it will default to these selections so you don't have to scroll to change your settings
every song.
Phase Shift v0.59 Released - 28th June 2010
New version of Phase Shift was released yesterday but site was down at the time.
Main feature of this release is the song ranking system, but this version is also laying the ground work for player profiles which will
add a lot more functionality to the game so we are looking forward to hitting that milestone in the next version or two.
Phase Shift v0.58 Released - 22nd June 2010
This ones a fixer release, had a few issues in v0.57, random texture glitch snuck in that needed to be sorted and made
a number of improvements to the hit accuracy meter, full change list is on the phase shift updates page.
Phase Shift v0.57 Released - 21st June 2010
Another slightly rushed release so haven't had time for proper testing but hopefully no major issues snuck in.
This is quite a big release for us as it finally gets the options menu in place so no more messing around with ini file editing.
Still working on a calibration system so that wasn't quite ready to be included yet but theres now a hit indicator which should help people
adjust the values manually.
Grab it from the phase shift download page.
5 Lane mode video - 13th June 2010
As there aren't any real songs about with the 5th note we decided to make a video showing it working with the song Dave edited earlier.
Phase Shift v0.55 Released - 13th June 2010
Slightly rushed release as its late and don't have the time to give it a good test so we are hoping there are no major issues that snuck
in last minute.
See the update log for full list of changes and the readme section for details on the 5 lane drum mode and a new ini setting for a wide hit window option
Phase Shift 5 lane drums - 11th June 2010
After a little bit of talk we decided to go ahead and get the 5 lane drum mode enabled properly. Dave sorted out a test song by adding the extra
note back into one of the 4 lane charts.
Specific details will be with the release notes of the next version so people know how to use it.
Forum test - 10th June 2010
Hunting around for a free forum service, testing a few different options.
Phase Shift instancing fixed - 8th June 2010
Version 0.54 of Phase Shift had the background system reworked, but after release we discovered instancing no longer worked,
on the high detail setting this causes the game to eat up about 900meg of memory, this has just been fixed and drops
the game back down to around 300meg with the same settings so we hope to get this fix into a new release soon once a couple more of the random issues are sorted.
Weekend updates - 5th June 2010
Picked up a cheap midi / usb cable to test with my Band Hero drum kit, and it seems to work which is nice as I haven't seen any confirmation
it could be used as a midi kit. So now we have something we can experiment with to get midi controller support into Phase Shift.
Project website in the works, if your reading this your looking at it
Phase Shift v0.54 Released
Has a couple of known issues, instancing is currently broken so memory usage is higher than it should be, there is
also a glitch with the sp event trigger, this will start to go wrong after switching songs.
If you have trouble with this version either stick with v0.53 or try switching to an alternative background mode.
